Brashear Tournament Thursday February 7, 2008

Tournament play resumed with makeup games from Tuesday and Wednesday

In order to get the tournament caught up after 2 missed nights of play, games were held at both the Brashear gym and the Knox County gym. A total of 6 games were played.

The Brashear Lady Tigers faced the North Shelby Lady Raiders in second round tournament action. North Shelby jumped out to a 11-6 first quarter lead but the Lady Tigers battled back to within three at halftime with a score of 14-11 in favor of the Lady Raiders. Things went downhill for Brashear in the second half as they scored only 1 point for the remainder of the game and lost with a final score of 30-12. Scorers for Brashear were Jessi Hill and Emily Ladwig with 4 points each, Hailee Kelsey with 3, and Caroline Slavin with 1 point. For North Shelby, Amanda Orr scored 11 points, Danielle Rich had 7, Jillian Yoder had 6, and Kayla Donath, Olivia Ahern, and Jessica Linberger had 2 points each.

In the first round boys game between Brashear and Novinger, the Tigers took a first quarter lead of 20-11 and never looked back. They extended this lead to 24 with a score of 41-17 at half and continued to dominate the rest of the game with a third quarter score of 52-30 and ending with a final of 77-39. Brashear had four players in double digits with Kale Watson scoring 15 points and Matt Thomas, Kiley Watson, and Trae Treasure scoring 14 points apiece. Other Brashear scorers were Jacob Shipman and Ryan Ferdig with 6 each, Justin Hazen with 4 points, and Anthony Ambrosia and Jacob Owen with 2 points each. For Novinger, Aric Luman scored 22 points, Dakota Jacques had 7, Caleb Dobson had 3, and Tell Ruggles, Wes Totsch, and Cory Smith scored 2 points each.

In other first round games at Brashear, the Knox County girls defeated Putnam County JV by a score of 65-29, the Marion County boys downed Putnam County JV 69-38, and the Marion County girls topped Macon County 75-17. In second round action at Knox County, the Knox County boys beat North Shelby 67-50. Play will continue Friday night, Saturday morning and Saturday night.
